Our OOSH gardens at Dudley street love this spring weather! The children have showed increasing interest and confidence when seeing they can actually grow vegetables, herbs and fruits! They have also taken on responsibility to care and nurture the gardens with pride and enthusiasm. We are still continuing to incorporate the garden into our program by making our own jar of compost to see the breakdown of food and leaves and planting experiments e.g. – planting sunflowers in different environments such as dough and cotton wool. We have also combined the topic-healthy eating with our garden interest by using our vegetables, herbs and picked fruits for our afternoon tea.We even made low fat/low sugar mulberry ice-cream. Yum!
